Pinot Gris is a white wine grape believed to have originated in the Burgundy region of France. It is a member of the extended Pinot family of grape varieties and is specifically known as the pink skinned genetic mutation of Pinot Noir.
The 2021 growing season was quite warm which allowed our estate Pinot Gris grapes to fully ripen while retaining balanced acidity thanks to our cool Selah nights. With this observation, we sensed an opportunity to utilize these grapes to create our first rosé of Pinot Gris, and we are so impressed with the outcome. Its creamy mouthfeel and refreshing acidity exhibit elegance and balance. The profile is soft and inviting with layers of strawberries and cream, honeydew melon, and nectarine as well as hints of rose petals and white peach.
This wine will pair delightfully with fresh salmon, soft cheeses, such as goat cheese or brie, as well as basil pesto antipasto and cured meats.
