Riesling is a white grape varietal which originated in the Rhine region of Germany. Due to its aromatic qualities and stylistic versatility, it is not surprising that it has gained world-wide popularity. Riesling is also known as one of the most terroir expressive grapes in the world, which means that the characteristics of its grapes are highly influenced by the place in which it is grown, giving unique qualities to its wines in each wine growing region.
The 2021 vintage of our Riesling reflects the beauty of this varietal in stunning fashion. Its quality continues to impress from vintage to vintage. The vines were 21 years old at the time of harvest, allowing their maturity to carry through to the wine, exhibiting complexity and an expression of place. With mouthwatering acidity and a fruit forward profile, it is ready to open for our warm Selah summers but has the ability to age over the next 5-10 years. Meyer lemon, pink grapefruit, and guava show brightly, along with a dusting of basil, mint, jasmine, and chalky minerality. It is a dry wine, but its fruit expression is such that it will appeal to wine lovers across the sweetness spectrum.
This wine shows excellent balance and is therefore capable of pairing with lighter dishes such as Caprese salad or white fish but is also bold enough to stand up to heartier dishes as well.
